1952 Born in London where she lives until 18. Detests the city and escapes as often as possible to the country, in particular Somerset and Dorset. 1967 Meets up with an artist who, on seeing some of her artwork advises her strongly to follow her heart and go to Art School, rather than going down the academic university path preferred by her school. 1969-1974 Studies at St Martin’s, Bristol and Chelsea art Schools. At 22 is selected to become a lecturer in Foundation Studies and later Fine Art Sculpture where she teaches drawing, painting and sculpture until 1990. The “Cornish School” have a strong influence on her work and in particular Paul Feiler, her principal tutor when a student at Bristol. 1979 Selected for the British Art Show. 1981 First exhibition in Germany. 1983 Move to Devizes, a decisive moment in her artistic development where the discovery of Romanesque Architecture becomes an integral part of her work. She becomes neighbour to John Wragg and David Inshaw, both of whom taught her as a student. 1985 First major one-man show in London. 1987 First exhibitions in France. 1982-1990 Beginning of regular trips to France and Southern Europe, as part of the source material for her work, bringing about the decision to leave England and live full-time in France. 1990 Installation in the heart of the country in South West France with her husband, a native of the Lauragais. Organisation of her new studio. Embarking upon a much more solitary artistic path, she says that it was at this moment that her life as an artist began. 1992-1994 Birth of her sons, James and Thibault. 1997 She starts working in Bronze. 2000 Exhibition at the Olivétains, St Bertrand de Comminges. 2003 Decision to receive people in her studio and house, rather than systematically exhibiting in galleries. 2003 Creation at last of her Internet site ... |
