Caroline White is exhibiting this summer at the Abbaye de Bonnefont, in the Comminges in Occitania: you’ll be able to discover her new sculptures and paintings.

Open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 2pm to 6pm.

The choice of this exhibition is based on the discovery of the Cistercian Abbey of Bonnefont where there remain only vestiges of a past that inspires the imagination. There is still the feeling of contemplation and the presence of a profound and calm silence, impregnated with prayer and encompassing Nature. You can still see the rigour of the proportions and the magic of the light, implying both prison and paradise.

Caroline White spent the 1980s travelling to many Romanesque and Cistercian sacred sites, including Vézelay and Le Thoronet. These places became the source of her artistic development.

She was dazzled by the organization of space and light, the beauty of the stones and the powerful energy anchored in these sites.

The silence that touches the depths of one’s heart.

This summer’s exhibition and the choice of works offer visitors sculptures and paintings that are both variations using the geometry of the circle/sphere, the square/cube and the spiral/vortex and the revelation of the “new” forms that appear.

From a very simple geometric beginning, which through its construction, its assembly and its colour, very quickly becomes extremely complex and infinitely variable.

Each piece refers to the search for one’s self, one’s being and one’s soul.

Duality, the mirror and its meeting point with what it reflects, are omnipresent.
